| I’m Al Zeman (Big Al) owner and operator of Al’s Guide service for the past 3 seasons. After receiving my B.S. in Natural Resource Management and 5 years of employment by the Ohio Division of Wildlife (at Magee Marsh) , I changed my profession. I am fully licensed by the United State Coast Guard and I am now a full-time fishing and waterfowl guide. I have been hunting waterfowl for the past 19 years. I hunt the southern shore of Lake Erie and Sandusky Bay area.. ... Up to 100 thousand birds have been surveyed by the Ohio Division of Wildlife here during the hunting season.. With the numerous wetlands and private clubs in the area, in addition to the open water habitat, puddle ducks as well as divers call this area home for a while as they migrate South each Fall. The weather and the duck activity dictate where we hunt. The hunts are open water blind boat hunts over big decoy spreads, 7-10 dozen on most days. The blind boat is a 24’ Sea Ark with a custom built blind. Our blinds have complete overhead protection which keeps you out of the weather and allows the heaters to help out on those chilly mornings. The size of my boat allows me to take some big water and when it gets cold it breaks through the ice nicely, getting us to the birds. We can hunt up to four hunters plus myself very comfortably. If you have a group larger than 4 , that is no problem. I can team up with my associate Capt. D.J. and we can take up to 8 hunters. WE DO NOT PASS SHOOT ! Most birds will decoy given the chance and I give them the chance ! This hunt would not be complete with out a complementary hot breakfast served on each hunt mid–morning, sausage,eggs and potatoes. Always hot and hits the Spot ! Do I have great shoots ? YES you bet !! Do I have tough days ? Unfortunately, but it is not from the lack of effort. As many of you know , duck hunting is sometimes weather dependant and I can not control the weather but I do what the best I can with the given conditions. To complete your hunting pleasure, we can supply lodging that includes kitchen, comfortable beds and a living area with cable t.v..
